Essential Phrases Explained

When logging in for the first time, you will notice that we utilize two factor authentication. You will be asked for a verification code to identify your IP address and browser. Simply click the "Request a Verification Code" option to have the Verification Code sent to either your smart phone or email. Do not share you log in information with anyone not authorized by Profiles, doing so will cause the access to immediately be disabled.

  • "Graduation Year" The first search category is Graduation Year, located on the top left-hand side of the screen. You are required to choose a year to perform a search. Click on the drop down menu to see the years that are available to access and choose the one you need. Only the years you have access to will appear in the drop down menu.

    "Specialty" You are required to make a selection in the category to perform a search. Click on the drop down menu to see the specialties available and choose the one you need. Only the specialties you have access to will appear in the specialty menu.

    "Geographic Pref" During our interview process, we ask the physicians to a provide their geographic preferences in which to live and work. You can search these either by region(s) or by state(s). A Geographical Preference does not have to be selected to perform a search. You have the ability to make selections to perform a targeted search or leave the selection blank to view a larger group.

    "MedSchool State/Country" This section allows you to search for a candidate based on the state or country in which they competed their Medical School.

    "Internship State" This section allows you to search for a candidate based on the state that their Internship Year was completed.


    "Residency State" This section allows you to search for a candidate based on the state where they attended their Residency Training.

    "Fellowship State" This section allows you to search for a candidate based on the state where they attended their Fellowship Training.

    "All Ties State Search" This option will allow you to search candidates that have a tie to the state that you are searching. The system will identify candidates who have that state listed anywhere in their information. Example of a state tie: Geographical Preference, Education completed in this state, originally from this state, etc.

    "Hospitalists" If you are looking for a Hospitalist candidate, you can search for candidates who have stated that they would consider a Hospitalist position. Click the drop down box and choose "Yes". If your opportunity is not a Hospitalist position, you can choose "No" to filter out candidates wanting a Hospitalist position or select "All" to include all candidates matching your criteria.

    "Fellow Specialty" This search option allows you to look for candidates who have a sub-specialty interest or are planning to go on to a Fellowship. For example, in Orthopedics, you can choose Fellow Specialty of "Spine" to find candidates planning to pursue additional training in Spine Surgery

    "Position Type" This search option allows you to identify physicians by their preference of Full Time, Locum Tenens (Per Diem), Open or Part Time positions.

    "State Licensed " This search option gives you the ability to identify candidates who have either have obtained a permanent license or have applied for one. Not all residents and fellows will show up in the search option, since not all will obtain or apply until they have a valid offer.

    "Community Type" This search option allows you to target physicians that desire to live/work in a desired community size. Options include: Open, Rural, Medium, Metro and Hour to Metro.

    "Languages" This search option allows you to target physicians that speak languages in addition to English.

    "Profile Status" "Profiled Only" is the default setting. This means the system will only provide candidates who have been Profiled in your search. You can also choose to search "Not Profiled" or "All Doctors". You will lose some search options as this information is not available on physicians that have not been interviewed.

    "New In Past" You can choose to search for physicians that have recently been interviewed. Options include 7, 30, 60 or 90 days.

    "Degree Type" This search option allows you to target candidates with a particular medical degree. Options include: MD, DO or IMG (International Medical Graduate). Not choosing an option will give a mix of all three.

    "Grad Location" This search option allows you to search candidates based on where a physician completed the Medical School training. Options include: All, US Only and IMG Only.

    "Citizenship" This search option allows you to search candidates based on their citizenship status.

    "School Name" This search option allows you to locate candidates who attended a specific school during any phase of their training.

    "Last Name" This search option allows you to search by last name or a portion of the name.

    "E-mail" This search option allows you to search by an email address.

    "E-mail Only " This search option allows you to search for those that have provided an email address or those that chose not to provide an email address.

    "Tags" This search option allows you to search candidates by a "Tag" that you have created to identify physicians. Within each candidate Profile, you have the ability to "Tag" a physician for reference and then locate by this reference in future searches.

    "Marital Status" This search option allows you to search candidates by marital status.

    "Gender" This search option allows you to search candidates by a gender, if necessary.

    "State/Country Born" This search option allows you search by a physician's home state or country.

    "H-1B Visa" By default, H1-B Visa candidates are included in each search. You can choose to search "Only" H-1B Visa candidates or exclude H-1B Visa candidates by choosing "None" based on your needs.

    "J1 Visa" By default, J1 Visa candidates are excluded in each search. You can choose to include J1 Visa candidates by choosing "Include" or search "Only" J1 Visa candidates based on your needs.

    Whenever you complete a search of any kind, it is always best to click on the "Clear" button before starting any new search. This ensures nothing will interfere with the new search criteria.

  • Once you make your search options and click "Search", the physicians that match your criteria will appear on the Profiles Program Search Results page. Each program is listed in alphabetical order by state, then by city. Also provide on the search results page will be the Name of the Program, Specialty, the Number of Physicians in the Class, State, City and Phone Number for each.

    At the top of the physician results page, there are six function buttons:

    "Back To Search" This option will return you to the Program Search page.

    "Email Directors" This option allows you obtain all Director and/or Coordinator email address for all programs in the search results.

    "Print List" This option allows you to print the information on the results page in a PDF format. The phone list will include physician name, phone numbers and email address.

    "Print Labels" This option allows you to print mailing labels for every physician within each program on the results page. This is generated in PDF form and in a mailing label format.

    "ASCII List" This option allows you to print the program contact information in an excel format, no physician information is included.

    If you would like to look at each program Profile in more detail, click on the program name and their individual Profile will appear. Within each program Profile, you have the ability to view the program in more detail, including contact information. You can also see the physicians within the class, as well as, click on each physician to view their individual Profile.

    There are two options at the bottom of the program Profile.

    "Update Request" This option allows you to send an email to our Quality Assurance department and request a program update. Please note that requests on physicians not Profiled or physicians not in a current year, will not be updated.

    "Close" This option will close the program Profile and return you to the search results page.
